Einstein and Ockham Revisited
There is a quote attributed to Einstein “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.”
William Ockham who is credited with Occam’s Razor, “entities must not be multiplied beyond necessity.”
So, what’s the relationship of project success to physics and a thirteenth century scholar?
Today, agile development methods advocate the use of sprints, small incremental changes to systems that can be verified through the observation of working code. Ockham and Einstein preached in the value of simplicity. Yet project teams persist in taking on massively large and complex work, and we are all surprised when those projects fail. Always think small, the Agile approach is right, so figure out ways to incorporate agility into your project and development work.
