Never in my 20+ years of consulting on project work has a project manager told me they have sufficient budget and funds to do everything needed on the project. Ok, I accept that all PM’s think they are budget constrained. So why then are we so accepting of bloated scope and delayed decision making? Want to save money on your project? Scrutinize your scope for the gold plated requirements that are not really necessary (believe me, they are always there!) and get rid of them. Just by eliminating scope, you can free up money for other project needs. More on this later.
